There’s an English proverb that says “necessity is the mother of invention”. I believe it to be incredibly truthful. We often don’t give any attention to problems which not affect us, nor our friends and family. However, when we experience let’s say for example a disease or some family member is afflicted by it, we change abruptly.

Kenneth Shinozuka was just four years old when in a stroll with his grandfather, he happen to experience one of the scariest moments in his life, as he recalls. His grandfather simply got lost…

This was a presage that later the family confirmed. His grandfather had Alzheimer’s disease.

Over the course of time his condition got worse and not only that but he also started wandering often.

So how did Kenneth turn the necessity to guarantee the safety of his grandfather into an invention? Well, that’s what you’ll find out in this 5min video.

I decided to put here a TED-Ed video, I know that it isn’t a regular TED, however this video is special and takes only 7 min.!

In our academic life, as well as in our daily life, we’ve always found things that we couldn’t understand. And probably in most of the cases we entrust in others to decipher those things because we are not able to do it… In this brilliant talk Adam Savage, a former co-host in Discovery Channel series “MythBusters” and “Unchained Reaction”, attempts to debunk this assertion. From Eratosthenes to Richard Feynman, he presents us knowledge that started from simple ideas that everyone can discover from their experience.

This talk changed my life I hope it changes yours too (for better). We often think that being a machine, or being perfect is the ultimate stage of human kind. However, Guy Hoffman (almost) obliterate this concept. And in one of my favourite talks he makes us reinvent our definition of what we should aim. Maybe we shouldn’t only spend all our time striving for getting better and better but also realize what we have achieved and how mistakes are important. So after this talk (I’ve seen it one year ago, thus I don’t quite remember it deeply) I stopped asking for me to be perfect but to move towards that goal always looking to the errors has opportunities for improvement and for new ways of thinking. More than this I comprehended that emotions are needed for arriving perfection…and you, what have you learnt?

Life would had no meaning if we erased emotions, it would had no purpose. I wish you all the best and seek for your “soul” everyday 😀

This TED is going to be about the importance of understanding the other minds and how this process depends upon age. A child with 3 yo can’t understand morality and a 5yo can. Now isn’t this interesting enough to see this jaw-dropping talk?

I hadn’t had time for keeping this daily commitment, so I’m sorry. Consequently I will put here a presentation I’ve seen that is beautiful and well structured.

In the fields of psychology, Sheen Iyengar decided to study how people choose and how our society impacts in our decision-making. We are in a precious moment of humanity because we are creating a global world so, we have to understand other cultures. Additionally, we cannot forget the stream of information that we have nowadays hence we have to make the better options. Our previous TED moment had also concerned this theme (Amy Cuddy – “Your body language shapes who you are”)

She has an earlier video which I haven’t seen albeit I recommend you to see on her TED profile.

In this delighfull talk we get through some giggles and some changes in our think. It makes wonder why we have to change the way education is.

We talked about nuclear fusion, now it’s time to hear how important is to have new available options for energy. Especial if they are clean energy with low-level radioactive waste. In this talk, Dr. Steven Cowley takes us in a quick lecture to the ambient challenges of humanity.
